Song Description

The song tells why an old friend meant so much to me, because she took time to sit with people and share important time while having a cup of tea.

Story Behind the Song

Stella Deremer was an old friend of our family who died in 2006. I grieved for her more than almost anyone I have ever known. When I tried to figure out why, I realized that it was the time she spent while having a cup of tea.

Yesterday I saw the oldest friend I?ve ever had
All my life she?s lived next door to mom and dad
I always understood why she means so much to me
She takes time to have a cup of tea.

Take some time
Ease your mind
Sit with me
Have a cup of tea

She was like an anchor in our often frantic lives
A calming force with careful and kind advice
In good times and in bad she brought us peace with her smile
Just by comin? over for a while

Take some time
Ease your mind
Sit with me
Have a cup of tea

When you?re studying at school or building your career
Trying to change the world and rushing there to here
Don?t forget to spend a little time with your friends
It?s that cup of tea that matters, in the end

We will not remember the work we did today
But we?ll always remember that we felt this way
When things are going great or they?re as bad as they can be
Spend a little time, let?s have a cup of tea.

Take some time
Ease your mind
Sit with me
Have a cup of tea
