Song Description

Forever Here is about how one couple makes a marriage work by sharing their lives independently, expecting only fidelity and a real good friend.

Story Behind the Song

Forever Here is the true story of how my husband and I met and how we make our marriage work. We have very different interests but we get along by living independently. I don't expect him to do everything I want to do and vice versa. It works!

VERSE 1 and 2:

I was flying to Chicago, him to LA.
We fell in love in seats 12 B and A.
With Mexican tequila and Corona beers,
We toasted our Dads and shed some tears.

Like all new lovers we made adjustments
He thought he was the boss and I told him he wasn?t
But what we agree on, crystal clear
Is we?re gonna stay forever here.

(So) We don?t expect a lot from each other.
A real good friend and a faithful lover
We share our lives, independently
We?re not stuck on being glued together
We do our own thing and we get along better
He?s not my world
but he?s my love, love, love, and family.

He plays golf whenever he chooses
I stay home and write my music
He says, ?Honey are you sure you don?t mind??
I say, ?Baby I can use the time.?

When the girls and I are off to the opry.
He and his friends are watching hockey
What we have feels so darned right
And he?s here holding me every night.

Our anniversary flies right by us
Until his sister?s card reminds us
We don?t count our love in years,
?Cause we?re gonna be forever here.
