Song Description

Behind the back drop of minor guitar arpeggios, staccato piano, a smooth bass line the create a rich musical texture, the vocals unfold as being highly rhythmic and static during the the verses, and for the chorus fluid. and richly embodied. Lyrics focus on themes of temptation, loneliness and his own existence while rambling in Colorado and getting stuck in some sort of blizzard.

Story Behind the Song

Written in Colorado, while camping in the mountains. I saw a blizzard coming in, had an hour to secure fire wood and my tent. Frantically searched my truck's tool box for things I could use if this summer blizzard hit really hard, and the things I found where strange; flask of gin, an ex girl friend's chain. During the storm my tent had actually flew off the stakes, and it was too cold in my truck- I didn't have the gas to make it down the hill if I ran it, but I had the fire blazing and this blizzard was throwing embers and the wind was bending the flames into what looked like an evil face. I had to huddle up against the fire for the duration of a 3 hour blizzard, thinking about the people I loved to help over come the fear.

Lyrics

So many Anthems when you roam, when you're rambling/
Only one on my lips.
It goes the echoes in the canyon are my only companion, they know I exist.
Colorado Wind it's as sweet as sin/
It blows me a way.
But if I got some gin, then I'm not without a friend/
So I'll keep it rolling today.

CHROUS:
I've seen the devil's face,
by the fire that keeps me warm.
It's always by an Angels Grace,
I come out, so dry from the storm. x 2,

I used to hold her picture, that was back when I would miss her/
She used to hook to my chain.
It loosened in the winter, I was stupid I was bitter/
but she didn't look the same.
I did a lot of searching never know if it's worth it/
I caught a glimpse of the flame.
It was lit behind the curtain started growing as I circled/
And that fire it knew my name.

CHORUS:

Verse 3/Break Down

Fire Water
With a smile
Hold the rails
As I'm tumbling.
Chew me up, spit me out,
Yes I'm tangled get me out.

The night it swallows up the child,
hold the rails
fuck
I'm tumbling.
Music dust, this I shout
There's an angel lifting cloud.

Chorus.
