Lyrics

Vision Dance

Trains hovering on superconducting magnets
Show the frictionless movement I experience
When I get out of my own way finding freedom
In knowing that death waits at its unknown
Place and time and not being afraid because
Even that great worry now seems trivial

Vision is more hearing and touch than sight
Floating on the underground river where
Time circumstances and probabilities meet
I?m amazed that such abundant possibilities
Can exist and feel perhaps wrongly that
I can now rest here for as long as I live

I?m no longer waiting for someone else?s
Move or for the next cosmic digital pulse
The event is already occurring in me now
If we could one day replicate the experience
Of consciousness electronically will we still
Dance this secret rhythm of body mind world

Gravity and Freedom (Sonnet form)

Forget-me-nots are purple flowers in
My memory of standing on the hill
Where gravity and freedom both begin
As seagulls to the wind submit their will

There?s danger on the rocks below I fear
All senses tell me this is all that?s real
But guiding spirit speaks I faintly hear
A higher law than Newton?s to reveal

My wings do not from shoulder muscles grow
They are instead of quite another kind
Like visions more than I can see and know
They move me to another state of mind

Where energy and matter are the same
And God calls Einstein by another name

Fuel

Viscous air cold and dark as
Blue green water from the ocean floor
Hangs from naked trees and makes circles
Around the moon like paint applied
With a putty knife rather than a brush

A boat is secured for winter covered
With dirt making it an extension of the land
In a place where ice cube waves now break
Onto the shore a gospel choir once marched
In from over the sea on a bridge of air

The ache in my bones isn?t from the cold
But is the ambivalent beast of a furnace
Deciding whether to roar or to sleep then
Tickled by a child?s spendthrift smile
It finds fuel to sustain another long burn
