Love Found Me

I remember the time when my man and I first met.
The fall of the year.
Weather was crisp and clear.
He and his boys were standing near
As my girl and I were walking by.

And the introductions were made.
Short.........but cute, I thought.
I gave him the once over before rushing off to class.
Noticing his tight body and his nice...........Levi's.
Not my type, though.
I prefer tall, sleek, with skin the color of coal.
A long, dark piece of chocolate. That was my goal.

But as the time went,
I would look up and see him at every event that I attended.
And gradually, we became friends.
Just kickin' it as pals, as our hearts started to blend.
And we learned each other.
Completing each other's sentences
And laughing at the same crazy jokes.
Advising each other and comparing notes
On love........but not with each other.
Because in my mind, I was his sister
And he was my brother.

Until that day when he let me know
Of his love for me. Then MY feelings started to show.
But not without resistance.
I was intrigued by his persistance,
Finally admitting to myself that our relationship was divine,
'Cause the boy defied all my prerequisites and blew my mind.
So, I yielded.
Stopped running, so I could let myself get caught.
Love had found me in a place where I had not sought.

As our time together became longer,
Our relationship grew stronger,
And that commitment was made,
To God and each other.
The strong foundation was laid.

We now journey through life together until
