Moved On

Story Behind The Song

A woman has moved on from a relationship where her partner was regularly unfaithful. She has found true love and a faithful boyfriend. Her previous partner now realises the emptyness of his life and that he has lost her. He cannot accept this and still pursues her.

Song Description

The necessity of the singer telling her former partner just 'how it was', and 'how it is now'. That she has lost nothing of value, but gained everything, and there is no going back for either of them. He has to accept it and move on as she has done.

Lyrics

You came back, but I'd moved on by then,
all you could be, was an ex and a friend,
the attraction had gone, the distance was long,
you could try all you liked, but it still seemed wrong
I've sent you letters, and I wrote this song,
but you wouldn't let it end.

You played the field all the time you could,
fidelity, not understood,
so that world you loved, now seems tame,
too late you wish you'd changed your game,
and you've learned we can never be the same,
realize its too late and no good.

Chorus
Don't hold, don't drag,
don't call me a slag,
don't threaten the guy by my side
Take your loss like a man,
grow up while you can,
find a rock to crawl under and hide.

I'm in love with somebody new,
they are just so different from you,
their touch lights a fire, and I'm filled with desire,
your phone calls and visits are a pain, make me tired,
you won't break us up, by being a liar,
now my future is straight and true.

History has to stay where it is,
there's no magic potion or kiss,
we can't go back, can't change the facts,
we must move on- on different tracks,
there's no regret when its only pain I lack,
there's nothing that I miss.

Chorus
Don't hold, don't drag,
don't call me a slag,
don't threaten the guy by my side
Take your loss like a man,
grow up while you can,
find a rock to crawl under and hide,
a rock to crawl under and hide,
a rock to crawl under and hide,
and hide.........
