Story Behind The Song
Written way back in 97, the song didn't work in it's original format. Now rearranged and rerecorded in April 2015 at a quicker pace with a straightforward arrangement.
Song Description
Boy with musical ambitions never realises them and stays put in his home town playing to small audiences in local bars instead of following his dreams. Although he still hopes to be a star, he's happy enough with his lot in life.

Lyrics
GRAND OLD MAN OF ROCK 'N' ROLL 2
© 1997 Lyrics & Music by Bob Bentley
Revised 2015
Key D/E
132 BPM
Verse 1 :
He was just a boy of 17
Gonna hit the road to chase some dreams
Never quite got started out
Kept holding back, kept having doubts
Verse 2:
So he played guitar for all his fans
In local bars, with jamming bands
He never really wondered why
He just forgot to leave as the years rolled by
Chorus:
Now he's a grand old man of rock 'n' roll
He's got the music in his soul - way down
He'll never know what might've been
But he don't mind he's still got dreams to dream
Verse 3:
He still plays guitar, gets paid in beer
He still sings those songs but you can't always hear
At times his hands get slow and sore
But he doesn't stop, when they call for more
Chorus:
Now he's a grand old man of rock 'n' roll
He's got the music in his soul - way down
He'll never know what might've been
But he don't mind he's still got dreams to dream
Instrumental Break
Verse 4:
There's still a chance, you never know
He might make it big on the radio
He'll carry on 'till someone comes
And says "my friend, we'll make you famous son"
Chorus:
'Cos your a grand old man of rock 'n' roll
You've got the music in your soul - way down
You'll never know what might've been
But you don't mind you've still got dreams to dream
Chorus:
He's a grand old man of rock 'n' roll
He's got the music in his soul - way down
He'll never know what might've been
But he don't mind he's still got dreams to dream
Still got those dreams to dream....
