Days Of Mystery - Country Mix

Story Behind The Song

Thinking back to how relationships start, neither one knows what will happen, how long it will last and how the other will respond. It is an exiting time but with awkward stages to get through, eventually leading to romance.... hopefully! Originally a pop song but was persuaded it was more country - very glad I changed it!

Song Description

Looking back at how we first met, the thrill and fear of getting to really know one another - and the joy when it all works out.

Verse 1
I've been reminding myself about those early days
So far back then when we were free
Even now I'm still amazed
That I got you and you got me

Verse 2
I still remember that very first night
I was up on the stage with my old guitar
Your long hair glowing in the candlelight
As you made your way through that rock n roll bar

Chorus 1
Those were the days of mystery
I didn't know you and you didn't know me
We had the sun on our backs and toes in the sea
Back in those days of mystery - mystery

Verse 3
For the first few weeks we just took things slow
Very careful not to spoil the time
Feeling our way into this brand new world
Before I was yours and you were mine.

Chorus 2
Those were the days, the days of mystery
I didn't know you and you didn't know me
A future ahead that we just couldn't see
Back in those days of mystery - mystery

And then it happened like a burst of light
That special moment for you and me
So close together just like stars that night
A taste of what our life was going to be

Those were the days of mystery
Discovering you and discovering me
With love in our hearts we had set ourselves free
Back in those days of mystery

Back in the days, those days of mystery
Knowing you babe knowing me
With the sun on our backs and our toes in the sea
Back in those days of mystery
Back in those days of mystery
Oh oh mystery

Very sentimental offering about the start of the singer's relationship...successfully and relationship, apparently.
Nice clear voice and recording....lucky guy!

Nice smooth flowing song , Vocals matched up with instruments well . Harmonies are very good .

Shades of Kenny Rogers ! Sun on our backs and toes is in the sea , is a great line .
Loved the almost accapelo chorus near the end .

Great song....I would love to hear more

This tune has a really nice old time country almost sounds like Kenny Rogers!! You should be doing Kenny Rogers sound alike shows. You could be making killer Bucks. Now just find a Dolly Parton look & sound alike and you will be twice as rich!! Hee Hee!
Good Tune Sir!! Way to go!! I will go and check out your Broad Jam page, once I know who you are ........

Love the resonator. Pretty. The use of the A-B-A-B rhyme scheme is a nice change from the standard A-A-B-B. The recording and instrumentation are nice. The vocalist is on key always. His voice is nice. Soothing. The harmonies are nice and no overused.

This is a very pretty song, I loved it. The lyrics were well written and told a story. The singer reminded me of kenny Rogers, very well done. Good luck with it.

THere is a lot to like here, for sure!! The arrangement/musicianship are very good quality, and the vocal is strong and passionate. The interplay of the instruments is really nice. There are some lovely images in the lyrics. Harmonies are wonderful!

I love the lyrics! nice guitar and instruments fits the country genre, steel guitar licks very great!intro leads into song well!
