Lyrics

Listen up here what I say
I don't preach often I hardly pray
give me a moment to realize
between the truth in the dirty lies

My internal battle
bottled up inside

Missing my life I drink it away
hours lost or maybe days
shut down blacked out where the fuck am I
black and blue morning I could've died

I need some self-defense to defend me from myself
I ain't scared of nobody else but I'm terrified of myself

Try to remember but last nights at haze
Please don't be angry because I'm in a daze
Don't give up on me baby you know that I try
To cage this monster that lives inside

This monsters my burden
the thorn in my side

Looking up at that steep stairway
the first step is the hardest is what they say
Is it too late to change this mind
and stop future tears from having to cry

I need some self-defense to defend me from myself
I ain't scared of nobody else but I'm terrified of myself

I need some self-defense to defend me from myself
I ain't scared of nobody else but I'm terrified of myself

I really loved the guitar and the squealing pinch harmonics all throughout the tune. The lyrics really drove home a solid point of a man needing self defense from himself. I think that said a lot for all of us who have felt that way. The overall feel of the song is congruent and nothing seems out of place. Very well done!
