Story Behind The Song
When I was away to college, I got a call from my parents on night that my dog Ginger had died. Losing a pet may sound trivial to some, but I was--and sometimes still am--heart-broken. She was my little girl and I loved her deeply. Unlike the time she disappeared on the 4th of July as we shot off fireworks in Houston, this time she didn't come back. Where did she go? I had a hard time comprehending and accepting her death/disappearance from my life. I wrote this song as a tribute to Ginger (who still visits me in my dreams) and as a way to come to terms with losing her.
Song Description
"Where Are You" is a moving, pop ballad about losing someone you deeply love. It addresses both the anguish of "loss" and difficulty of comprehending it. In the end, the song makes a tentative peace with loss, seeing a silver lining in the lasting glow of vivid memories that continue to burn on.

Lyrics
Verse 1
I checked your bed
I searched the halls
Found your affects
But you are gone
I can't accept
This won't compute
I'm left without
A kind of proof
Chorus
Where are you? Where are you? (repeat)
Verse 2
My sense is still
That you could stride
Back in through the door
At any time
The air's been sucked
Out of the room
That's what it's like
To be without you
Chorus
Where are you? Where are you? (repeat)
Bridge
I remember the time on the 4th of July
When you ran away and stayed out all night
I was out of my mind but you came back that time
Now where are you?
Outro
You're flesh and blood
Within my dreams
And as long as the bulb
Of my memory still flickers
Then you are here with me
