Story Behind The Song
I once had a great love, and we did in fact make love on a beach very passionately on a hot summer day. I visited that beach years later in the dead of winter, and looked at the spot where my lover and I lay, now covered with a dusting of snow, and wondered how it could have been that such passion could have vanished.
Song Description
Lost is such a deep, multi-level word. We can be lost in love, in the moment, in bliss. We can also be lost in the woods, have lost our way. We can also have lost a game or something we were striving for. And something we once had can be lost. This song covers all those bases and tells a sad sweet rueful story in the process.

Lyrics
LOST
© 2006 Bill Burnett
Do you recall the time we lay beside the ocean?
You put your lips to mine and rode me like a wave
The sun was in the sand, the sky was on your shoulders
You took me in your hand and I gave myself away
And we were lost little children we were lost beside the sea
We were lost in the blaze and in the blue
We were lost and I prayed that we'd be lost eternally
We were lost
Now the beach is white with snow, and the sun's a fading cinder
It's six degrees below and I'm shivering on the pier
The trees are brittle bones and the sea is grey with winter
And you would never know that we were ever here
Being lost little children we were lost beside the sea
We were lost in the roar and in the spray
We were lost and we swore that we'd be lost eternally
We were lost
I still believe in lost
I still believe in lost
I still believe in lost
Now love is everywhere unless you cannot find it
And love is in the stars unless the sky is grey
And love will be your friend unless you fall behind it
And love will never end...unless it fades away
And we are lost little children, we are lost far out to sea
We are lost in the greys and in the blues
We are lost and I'm afraid that we'll be lost eternally
We are lost
