Talking Great Wall Blues

Well they came by buses cars and trains
Private jets and aero-planes
See the dedicating of the wall
the big one beyond Arkansas
The words and apple pie was fine
We got in that returning line
when each governor began to call
for the building of his own state wall
(a regular competition...)

Well the county supervisor man
Soon began to understand
the idea ran around his brain
till he knew he would look insane
If he didn't wall up good and neat
the land around the county seat
except they done used up all the bricks
he built his wall with hickory sticks
(no time to speak softly)

Well the ride back home was fits and starts
but we knew deep down in our hearts
if we had to stop at a million walls
that we was heeding higher calls
our passports got so full of stamps
from all those state and local camps
we had to put them books on wheels
as big as old time movie reels

(might call it a throwback...)
(so heavy they'd break your back!)

None of us good folks objected
till the first town wall was done erected
we knew it wouldn't be long before
we'd need a wall outside of every door
And sure enough it came to pass
That every man and boy and lass
would carry around a little wall
to protect their individual
(bad hombres included..)
(and the handmaidens..)

Till at last the nightmare passed
A new ideal was finally cast
they tore all them old walls down
and took the bricks to DC town
Built a new one miles high
one that reached the highest sky
around the nation's capital
they built a wall to end all walls
(got us a solution..)
(ended our problems..)
