Lyrics
AMERICA, GOD'S COUNTRY
NOTE: Originally composed in 1926 by my Dad, David Caruso, Sr. and written in the traditional "march-tempo" format of his era, I took the liberty of updating his song and putting a New Orleans spin on it. After the first (almost-traditional) verse, the tempo transitions into what I believe to be the first patriotic second-line in New Orleans musical history.
HERE ARE THE LYRICS:
It's grand to be living in a freedom-loving land
Where skies are always blue above
It's grand to be living in a freedom-loving land
America, it's you I love
REFRAIN
America, God's Country, it's our land, it's so grand, yes siree
America, God's Country, it's our land, it's so grand to be free
What a grand old flag is our red, white and blue
God gave us our land with His blessings so true
America, God's country, three cheers for the red, white and blue
