Song Description

Black Genie is a high energy rocker by the garage-rock foursome The Salamanders out of Bozeman Montana. It's got a great main riff that is groovy and rocks. It's catchy and infectious and is guaranteed to pump up the listener. The vocals are reminiscent of louder Iggy Pop. The guitar groove is pulsating and infectious. The guitar solos are melodic and screaming but not overbearing.

Story Behind the Song

Black Genie is one of the catchier, high-energy singles of the Salamanders second album Hellbender. The album is great start to finish with a variety of sounds. This song was already used in award winning extreme sports video "Playgravity 2" which features Olympian Ueli Kestenholz snowboarding in Alaska to Black Genie.

Lyrics

Late last night
cold as ice,
Genies on the run.
Place and time when I suffice
it never was enough.
To be in mind alive in time
revolution kills.
Genie just smiles for all the while the pain can be rebuilt.
Chorus:
I'm not gonna allow myself to get mad.
I will light the fuse and then we watch it go.
I won't be at home when you come around.
I keep my broken limbs on solid ground.
Late last night cold as ice
Genie's on the run.
'cept he's tryin to roll it fast caught up in the mud.
Lookin down on the highway line it was there she saw the blood.
Gone his all till he hit the wall you know it never was enough.
Chorus:
I'm not gonna allow myself to get mad.
I will light the fuse and watch it go.
I won't be at home when you come around.
Keep my broken limbs on solid ground.
