Story Behind The Song

Chapters was conceived as a instrumental long before any words were ready for the song. It originated as a field recording taken from a young person preaching their respective theology on the 2 train in the Bronx. From there the field recording was sequenced out and applied to the track itself which became the basis for the lyrics.

Song Description

Anika was born in Ohio, made her way to Illinois. Then to New York in 2011. In 2013 Anika completed a year long musical residency in Brooklyn where she focused on her lyricism, delivery and style. The outcome of that residency thus far have been two mixtapes released in January & August of 2014. The Phonehome series speaks to Anika as not only a socio emotional rapper but also one that focuses on politics & economy as well.
