Song Description

Crossroads begins with a piano introduction to reflect the lyrical allusion of standing on a rooftop alone and away from home. In the second verse, the band takes the writer on a journey that she is happy to embark upon, the guitar solo builds excitement until she is left with the realization that she is still hurt by the way things ended.

Story Behind the Song

The third song of the EP is a letter written to a man the writer meets in her new home. She's had a difficult transition and finds herself pushing him away when an opportunity to move presents itself. The writer is asking her new love if she means enough to him for her to stay.

Lyrics

I'm standing on a rooftop
A million miles from home
The wind beats across my face
As I climb up here alone

I still see your face sometimes
It lightens all my thoughts
Because time couldn't heal
What faded from lost and tattered hearts

When two wrongs don't make a right
It's a turn of phrase
A lovers plight

Now I sail over the sea sometimes
Look down into the blue
And all my thoughts and all my fears
Return to the memory of you

I'm sorry that I ran away
But I happy that I'm gone
Because once the words come and go
You can never come back home

Because two rights always make it wrong
Will it last for long?

Nothing comes from nothing
Sorrow comes from loss
Now I'm standing in the graveyard
Of all things this life has cost

They say time heals all wounds
But nothing cuts so deep
As a shallow soul and hollow eyes
And no kind words yet left to speak

I'm standing at the crossroads
The path goes high and low
I'm still the one getting away
And you're still the one who let go.
