I started out in Sunday school
looking for my soul.
I learned about the children of Israel,
and the God who led them home.
I learned about Joseph and Joshua,
and the battles they won and lost.

Well, I graduated from Sunday school
still looking for my soul.

Well I ended up a heretic

So I sailed away to India
to the land of yogis and gurus.
I learned the sacred practices,
the boons bestowed by gods.
Had visions of the universe
unfold behind my eyes.
I gave it all my energy,

but the Light that shone at Bethlehem
was still more far than near.

Well I headed back to America
still looking for my soul.
Questioning the purpose of the Universe
and everything I?d been told.
Till the Goddess the river came
and pierced the darkest night.
The wisdom of the ages
came pouring from her sight.
She said, ?Stop this frantic searching.
There?s nothing to be searching for.
The Light that shone at Bethlehem
is simply who you are.?
