Story Behind The Song

The music was written by Patrick (Alterstate drummer), as well as the lyrical chorus hook - It Happens Everyday. The question was: What happens everyday? Pat and Cliff (Alterstate keyboard player) threw around some ideas of different scenarios, and settled on a theme of loneliness. This then grew into the idea that the verses would be written from the point of view of 2 different people - each on either side of 'the looking glass', and what each one would say.

Song Description

A flowing acoustic-guitar based song, with a shuffle groove to give it a strong rhythmic feel throughout. The choruses feature a catchy, repetitive lyical hook, which complement the repetitive chord structure, which remains unchanged through most of the song. The lyrics tell the story of a lonely man who longs to feel complete again: 'And one day the other half of me, will pass my way', because this loneliness is too much to bear: 'It happens everyday'.
