One Eye

Story Behind The Song

I heard a dope beat and started to imagine all of the things we have to look out for in this world. The phrase "sleeping with 'one eye' open" came to mind, as it represents a constant state of awareness.

Song Description

"One Eye" was produced by Five Drexler of the Treblemakers; it was flipped from Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black." The song is about counting your blessings. It's about knowing and loving who you are. It's about keeping one eye open for the good AND the bad at all times. You never know what's coming next, and you can't be afraid to face life head on. It's upbeat, but straightforward; definitely the vibe I emit on the daily. The song will appear on my upcoming album, YAHLAY: You Always Have Love And Yesterdays (7.7.2015).
