Story Behind The Song
Daya was asleep when we were living at the Wellesley hotel. In a dream, she saw herself playing and singing the words and music to this song. She woke up and recorded the song on a recorder she had beside the bed.
Song Description
The undying love of a child for her mother;
A generation gap in understanding my choices in life is overcome by love.
How a single parent perserveres to survive any obstacle.
Knowing intuitively that your mother survived many obstacles but endured to give you the life you have today.

Lyrics
She tried to understand me
Over and once again.
She never knew that I was happy,
Doing what I did then.
Momma, Momma, I love you
She's never asked for diamonds,
She's never asked for pearls.
She only did what she thought best.
For her little boy and girls.
Momma, Momma, I love you
She never knew the joy that I knew coming when I did.
She was the black sheep of her family.
She never knew the love that I knew, coming up as a kid.
She only hoped somehow that I did.
Momma, momma, momma don't you know I love you.
Momma, Momma, 'deed I do.
Living her life as single,
much of the time I knew.
She loved her husband dearly though they never knew what to do.
Momma, momma, I love you.
Momma, momma, 'deed I do.
