Story Behind The Song
I met this girl our senior year of high school. She was the fastest friend I'd ever made. We talked about everything, from our worst fears to the worst thing we've ever done. Then after five years of friendship, she suddenly started to become very distant from me and the other girls in my friend group. We tried to talk to her, to understand why she was acting this way, to figure out if we did something wrong. But her answer was, to put it plainly, "friends just grow apart." Still I tried to make things work with her. I invited her to gatherings and holidays, and yet she wouldn't show. But I would see her post with a different group of girls, they were all dressed up for the bars and parties. Those were the same girls she had said were so popular and knew everyone. When I look back now I see that there were plenty of signs that she had this shallow mindset. It just took me too long to see it.

Lyrics
Tell me did you find the
Friends you always wanted
Tell me how they're better
Than the ones you disregarded
Do they have your back when
Life gets messy
Or are they just for photos
To look good at a party
You never put yourself into somebody else's shoes
You live your life like your wrongfully accused
Treat other people like they're only there for you to use
Ooh, ooh
It's all easier to see now
Looking back I'm glad for the falling out
It's all easier
To see now
The falling out
I think God was telling me
That girl's got a hold on you
Explains the last five years
Must've been some sort of voodoo
Better that you walked away
Doing just fine us four
We used to miss you sometimes
But we don't anymore
I, that's the word you use so much it should be a crime
And you always longed for a shallow kind of life
Cause what you had wasn't enough, isn't that right
Oh Why, oh why
When'd you put your one foot out the door
Wait don't tell me, it might just hurt me more
It's all easier to see now
Looking back I'm glad for the falling out
It's all easier
To see now
The falling out
Why didn't I see it
I, I should've seen it
It's all easier
To see now
The falling out
Now I see, now I see
It's all easier
To see now
The falling out
