Story Behind The Song
I was driving truck (living in Idaho) and running mostly 7 western and Canada (New Mexico was the only thing that would rhyme with Idaho)
I was out on the road where I usually am when I write a song and it was running through my head just how elated I was, and how my loved ones couldn't understand how free I felt when I was "going down the road in a big old truck"
So the song just kind of wrote itself
Song Description
This song really sums up how you feel when you head out for a trip and that sense of euphoria kicks in that a longhauler feels but can't quite make anyone understand especially the good woman waiting back at home

Lyrics
Pulling out of Idaho loaded for New Mexico
Don't know when I'll be back
Short time to get there ain't no time to spare
I'm a train on a runaway track
800 miles today throw the logbook away
Put that old hammer down
Push that pedal in never let out again
Till I see the lights of town
CHORUS:
Well I'm running down the road in a big old truck
Gettin through life on a love and luck
If you think I'm happy I'm guilty as sin...
Kiss mequick baby I'm gone again
Kiss me quick baby I'm gone again
Well I never could work me a 9 to 5
It would drive me plumb insane
I guess I'm addicted to this life
Like a moth drawn to a flame
The only thing better than being gone
Is when I point this rig for home
I'll get there but I won't stay long
A couple of days and I'll be gone
I'll be running...
REPEAT CHORUS
I've got a good woman waiting back at home
And she gives me lots of love
So when I'm out here on the road
It's her I'm thinking of
I talked to her, she said "I'm missing you"
I said "hey sweet baby I miss you too"
When I get home we'll paint the town
And when the kids are grown we'll both get down
We'll be going down the road...
REPEAT CHORUS
