I've Got You By My Side

Story Behind The Song

An Everything's Going to be OK kind of song that was written about the support our daughter received from our son-in-law after the premature birth of their daughter, Abby. With 35 days of intensive care required for Abby, who was born 12 weeks premature took a toll on Joseph's wife and our daughter. His never-ending support, love and steady encouragement got her and many of us through that stressful time. I still remember all the family being in the waiting room, knowing Abby was being born and that by doing so she was in terrible risk. Joseph came out many times to keep us updated and was always strong and supportive. Then came the time when he came out to say Abby was here and both she and Heather were OK. He then sat down, put his head in his hands and cried for the longest time. All that was a pretense for how supportive he'd be from that time on. We are so lucky to have Abby and our son-in-law. Heather said to me one day as we were driving to the hospital that with him there she can face anything. The idea behind the song was born that minute.

Lyrics

Storms come and storms go, Gentle breeze or a strong blow
Sometimes in life you just gotta anchor down

Play it safe or risk it all, Run for cover or dare to fall
Sometimes it seems like you've just got no choice at all

Yeah some days are better than others
Some nights are that way too
But I'm OK cuz...
I've got you, by my side, I can face the darkest night
I've got you, by my side
Buy I know everything's gonna be alright,
Cuz I got you by my side

Dreams grow and dreams die, Somedays you laugh, some you cry
That's the circle we all grow old in

I've been lost , and I've been found, I've been up and I've been down
Sometimes it's hard to know the difference

Everyday can be a blessing, and everyday can be a curse
Everyday can get better, or then again... it might get worse... But I'm OK cuz...
Repeat Chorus 3 times
