Story Behind The Song
The melody just "happened to appear in my head" and I wrote the lyrics thinking about my own childhood, growing up in South Carolina and then having and raising my own children in Africa, how suddenly the night fell, how still everything was and the beauty of the night sky, how I wanted them to know how much I loved them and would always be there for them.
Song Description
A mother sings to her child, describing the stillness of the wind, creatures settling in for the night, an angel just outside. The words encourage the baby to sleep, knowing that the mother's love will protect and keep her, and that the child's own guiding star will lead her through life
