Song Description

Being caught by surprise by the sneaky corona virus and what we can do to over come it; we as the citizens of our world. It is our song for all people! Perseverance and strength in regards to the evil virus! We shall overcome! Featuring June Biancalana on electric guitar!

Story Behind the Song

My reaction to the pain the corona virus has caused people..the loneliness, the deaths, the illnesses and how we will overcome this together. I was affected by a photo I saw of an elderly man this past fall in a hospital johnny being hugged by a doctor with all the protective covid gear on. It cast the feeling of fear, sadness, sickness alone-ness and I just had to write something about covid to hopefully help people. I wrote it all with piano and then asked a wonderful electric guitarist/songwriter to come on board. We pulled it off; I living in Vermont and my co-writer/guitarist living in Utah. Recorded in our home studios. Now I am trying to get it out there to the people.

Lyrics

The Beast

There's a hush in the air
Like the moment before a scare
And the stillness it brings
Makes the birds sing

A tricky infestation
Is gripping all nations
And it wants us to deny
So it can survive

chorus
There was a time when all was fine
Or maybe we were just seeing blind
It came upon us really fast
Unheeded warnings from the past
Now at our feet demanding our defeat
What's behind the masks of those we meet
As we raise our angry fear laden fists
We cry We won't let the beast destroy us!

No one knows what to do
Everyone's afraid to move
Honesty's a must
But there's a lot of distrust

How ironic it now seems
The fresh air our lungs breathe
Is caused indirectly
By something that makes them cease

chorus
There was a time when all was fine
Or maybe we were just seeing blind
It came upon us really fast
Unheeded warnings from the past
Now at our feet demanding our defeat
What's behind the masks of those we meet
As we raise our angry fear laden fists
We cry We won't let the beast destroy us!

bridge
No matter what side we're on
We're fighting the same global war
And by staying away from each other
In time we'll come together stronger

chorus
There was a time when all was fine
Or maybe we were just seeing blind
It came upon us really fast
Unheeded warnings from the past
Now at our feet demanding our defeat
What's behind the masks of those we meet
As we raise our angry fear laden fists
We cry We won't let the beast destroy us!
