Bob Dylanesque. Once the vocal came in it got interesting. Like the uptempo groove and instrumentation underneath is subtle but really strengthens the music bed. Love the line "let the chickens out" with the backing vocals underneath. Why'd you have to go? The outro fit this song perfectly.

    - Adam Avery

This is a very cool example of Americana/rock in the vein of Neil Young...This could have been a hit in the war protest years in the 60's...very catch melody and memorable hook...the groove was perfect...vocal was crisp and clear...the message was delivered with emotion...great lyrics...this could find a home in a music library and be used as a period piece in a scene about going to fight in Vietnam as well as what's going on in the world today...

Lyrics

Why did you have to go

I'm tuned into the radio,
Listening to what I know.
Sitting down with Uncle Sam,
He's still wearing crazy pants.

Oh, Why did you have to go
Oh, Why did you have to go

There's Billy Brown,
He's the toughest kid around.
He won't pick a fight
but he's good to know when
you're right.

Oh, Why did you have to go
Oh, Why did you have to go

I'm going to the Roundabout.
They're gonna let the chickens out.
There's Mary Sue.
She'll bring it back to you and.

Why did you have to go
Oh, Why did you have to go

There's cousin Mack.
He's chuggin' on some
Whiskey called Jack.
Some Beauty is eying me
but you're the only one
I wanna see.

Oh, Why did you have to go
Oh, Why did you have to go
