Song Description

Encouragment to not quit. When things seem worse is exactly the place where you must not stop trying to reach the goal

Story Behind the Song

The poem, "Don't You Quit" was very inspirational to me. I changed some of the lyrics and formed a chorus out of various portions. The author of this poem, unfortunately, is unknown

The song is concise and I totally get it! Good job keeping to a songwriting structure. I like it overall, just think it could use a little more umpff. Keep at it :) I like the bridge section... flows naturally and has nice tension

Very cool panning instrument sound at the beginning. Very good lyrics, and interesting cadence dynamics around certain words. It could have used a hookier chorus to pull the listener in and get them hooked though - maybe more melodic tonal variation during the chorus so it differentiated itself better from the verses.

Lyrics

DON?T YOU QUIT

When things go wrong and they will
The road you?re trudging seems uphill
Funds are low, debts are high
You want to smile but you have to sigh
Life?s strange twists and turns
Each one of us has to learn
Many a failure would turn about
You might have won had you stuck it out

Chorus:
Rest if you must but don?t quit
Stick to the fight when you?re hardest hit
When things seem worst is when you mustn?t quit
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell, no you never can tell
Just how close you are

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man
The struggler now has given up
He might have captured the victor?s cup
He learned too late when the night slipped down
How close he was to the golden crown
Golden crown
That shiny golden crown

Chorus

You feel like you lost your heaven
It feels like hell
But you never can tell
Just how close you are
Don?t give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with one more blow
One more mighty blow

Chorus

Hey man, hey man?..don?t you quit
