Occupy

Story Behind The Song

We cheered on the Occupy Wall Street protesters, thrilled to see our anger at Wall Street excesses find a voice in popular culture. Written to capture the angst, anger and hopefulness of the Occupy Wall Street movement, this song was written in the aftermath of the 2008/2009 economic collapse and the protest movement that united so many Americans. "It's not the end, it's a start, a beginning....until then, we occupy."

Occupy
Copyright Tom & Mary Erangey

The land of the plenty is owned by the few
At the hungry bottom are the multitudes
Wanna shatter some glass and kick down some doors
It's time to act, I can't take this no more

CHORUS:
It's not the end, It's a start...A beginning
We'll know when we've won when we see them cry....Like a baby
Oh how I want to watch them cry
Until then, we occupy...
Until then, we occupy

In God we trust, not in man
Dollar is mightier than the pen
The problem with greed, is greed
If you like to steal you can work on Wall Street

CHORUS:
It's not the end, It's a start...A beginning
We'll know when we've won when we see them cry....Like a baby
Oh how I want to watch them cry
Until then, we occupy...
Until then, we occupy

CHANGE-UP:
Seven billion on their knees, asking pretty please
We won't take this anymore, we're standing up
You can join us if you like, no matter who you are
It's only a few that need to cry
It's only a few that need to cry
Until then, we occupy
Until then, we occupy
Until then, let's occupy

This a nice album song ... might be difficult to have commercial potential on it's own

Good topical song on a current topic; reminds me of Neil Young. (Keep On Rockin' in the Free World; Hey Hey My My)

You have a message and deliver it w/ passion...I like the concept

Tom and Mary Erangey have captured the spirit of the Occupy movement in their anthemic song, "Occupy." Unlike the Occupy movement, however, the song is highly focused, shining with polish in its arrangement and delivering its message with a style that is as accessible as it is impactful. You'll be inspired after the first listen, but after two hearings you'll be singing the chorus as you march downtown to confront the Powers That Be.
