I was thinking about the difference between feeling something emotionally and finding something that simply makes you feel alive for a moment. Set against December cold, the song uses pulse, breath, touch and physical reaction as signs of life while exploring the difference between genuinely feeling and simply finding something intense enough to break through numbness.
