Story Behind The Song
There were probably times as a the son of single mother, that I would have wanted to be a country star and whisk her off to a better life.... hold on, I'm still trying to do that!!! :-)
Song Description
A young boy about 10, hears his mom crying in the kitchen and goes to cheer her up by playing her a song he wrote for her. He asks her to make believe just for tonight, that they're in Nashville.
In the second verse he sings his mom her song and by the middle of the chorus, she's singin right along. As he strums the final chord of the song, all proud and pleased that his mom is finally smiling again, she grabs her boy and holds him tight - so grateful she has such a wonderful son - she's whispers back in his ear, baby just for tonight, Let's Make Believe We're in Nashville....

Lyrics
It was an early Friday evening and he heard the porch door close
The sound of crying from the kitchen was his mamma?s tears all alone
So he found his small guitar, and brought it to her side
And whispered in her ear, he said mamma just for tonight?.
Let?s Make Believe We?re In Nashville
Let?s make believe we?re in any place
That I?m on stage standing tall, with Toby Keith or Tim McGraw
At the Opre Friday night
Well he took a single step back and sang her favorite song
And by the middle of the chorus, she was singing right along
When he strummed the last chord willing, and she grabbed her boy so tight
And whispered in his ear, she said baby ? just for tonight?.
Let?s Make Believe We?re In Nashville
Let?s make believe we?re in any place
That I?m on stage standing tall, with Toby Keith or Tim McGraw
At the Opre Friday night
Cause the father and the son and the holy ghost
Will stand behind your innocence and will
Help you make this world a better place
It?s what you have, it?s what you are, it?s what you believe
Make Believe We?re In Nashville
Let?s make believe we?re in any place
That I?m on stage standing tall, with Toby Keith or Tim McGraw
At the Opre Friday night
So make believe in yourself
Make believe in your song
Make believe in make believe
And Make Believe We?re in Nashville
