Story Behind The Song
I often get stuck in a rut of writing songs that convey a certain mood of angst. Sometimes this comes across as being depressing or negative, and it took me a while to see that. "C'est La Vie" was a song that was written in one of my biggest growth periods as a song-writer to date. I feel that with the production I created a very minimal instrumental, which evokes a feeling of intimacy with the vocals. For the lyrics I wrote a song from the perspective of somebody who's just been through a whirlwind of problems, and has come to grips with letting things be. It's a new beginning of sorts, and an anthemic song for those about to embark on a new journey and forget the old.
Song Description
Very reminiscent of the material on Kanye West's critically acclaimed 808's and Heartbreaks, C'est La Vie uses spacey electronic drums and reverbs to create a sense of intimacy. The song has plenty of inspirational emotion, and fits well in a variety of genre's.
