Story Behind The Song

The inspiration for Amanda to write These Roots came after a trip down to the Hagel family homestead one thanksgiving. Amanda remembers walking through the farmyard as she observed the buildings experiencing more decay, the fence lines with more rust forming and nature slowly taking back over the land. She reflected on what she took from this beautiful place she was born and raised in, a place she would always call home. And her first thought was that she took this incredible foundation of love. A powerful message in an ever changing world!

Song Description

These Roots is a song that speaks in reflection of Amanda's upbringing having been born and raised on a farm in Southwest Saskatchewan. Amanda began writing the song in the fall of 2021, shortly before her mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It would prove to be a song that was inspired to come into being at the most perfect and synchronistic time as Amanda's mom's passing would come in early 2022 which meant the end of an era and a moment of great change as both her parents were now gone. Amanda speaks from the heart about the most important thing she has taken with her from her family roots. A message that is so personal yet so relevant and powerful in our world today. "The winds of change have come but the one thing that remains is, all of this LOVE, in These Roots".
