BIOGRAPHY

Labillois' new album "The Allenby Sessions", produced in collaboration with music producer Brian Gagnon, features his unashamedly heartfelt lyrics, set to his signature rock-adult contemporary sound.

It's been said that every artist is a link in a chain. Pascal Labillois was influenced by Melissa Etheridge, who adored Bruce Springsteen, who followed Woody Guthrie. Each of these artists have explored the lives of everyday, ordinary people -- struggling to succeed in work and love - and expressed their kinship with passion, through a guitar-based, roots-rock sound and strong, bluesy vocals. Labillois continues that tradition, marrying a time-tested, classic rock-pop style with his contemporary lyrical take on modern life and relationships.

The Quebec native first picked up a guitar at the age of 12. It was an electric one he built for himself with the help of a local guitar maker. He began writing songs at 14 and performed in a Bon Jovi-influenced rock band throughout high school - the "hair band years," he jokes. At 17, Labillois decided to fully pursue music - he began performing in Quebec City and Montreal and was cast as one of the lead vocalists in the musical "Noel à Quebec" in 1996. He spent the next few years writing and traveling - Labillois performed in bars and clubs across Canada, and even jammed with George Strait's band in Texas. The life of a nomad "got me in a bit of trouble," he says, "but I got some great songs out of it."

Labillois' first collection of emotional, autobiographical songs, "The Road to Yourself" was released in 2004 and the album earned him new fans in the US, Europe and Australia. Labillois had moved to Toronto by this point and discovered a new creative path by collaborating with local artists. Labillois performed with and produced albums for other bands and singers, developing the partnerships, networks and friendships that would help push his talents forward.

After another trip to the US - learning country in Nashville and playing the blues in Memphis - Labillois began working on new projects in 2006. He teamed up with the best; Juno Award-winning guitarist Wendell Ferguson, top Toronto drummer Gary Craig, Canadian Blues music veteran Doug Blais and brilliant engineer Michael "Dullboy" Langford.

In 2007, Pascal handed over his project to producer Brian Gagnon, an original member of the band "Hunt" signed to Daffodil/GRT/Capitol Records in the late 70's early 80's. Brian embodied elements of the classic sound Pascal was striving for and had produced and engineered some major recording projects at his own Sound Dynamix recording studio (Moving Targetz, The Tenants, Shania Twain). Now a free lance producer, Gagnon is getting the best out of artists such as Pascal Labillois.

With "The Allenby sessions" album now available worldwide on Itunes, Puretracks, Amazon, Napster, etc. more and more people are recognizing the name Pascal Labillois, as he continues to deliver fresh and creative music that celebrates ordinary heroic people and everyday emotions.
