The Modalities are a Northern California band with influences of island vibe, world beat, rock, and hip-hop. Modalities, meaning the method, is fronted by lead singer Shawn San Nicholas.

Shawn, a native of the tiny island of Guam, brings a unique blend of island flavor to the sounds of American World Beat. With a passion for live diverse music the band tries to give the audience what they themselves crave. The result is a combination that is upbeat, fun, and ever evolving.

The Modalities started in Northern California's wine country, getting their foundation playing in local coffee shops, restaurants, and bars in Calistoga and St. Helena, and getting airplay from their hometown stations. Over the years the Modalities have managed to pick up fans all across the United States, in the UK, and in Canada.
