An award-winning guitarist, an accomplished session player, a notable producer, a popular musical director—and remarkably, all one man. To see Drost perform is to be inspired. His fluid guitar work, impeccable technique and absolute versatility have earned him a mix of attention and opportunity. Drost performs a wide range of musical styles-from jazz to blues to rock to pop. Such diversity has put him on stage with an eclectic mix of musicians, including Bob Seger, Mel Torme, Kenny Werner and Darmon Meader (New York Voices). Drost is also a regular in Chicago's many studios and jingle houses; his playing can be heard on television and radio ads, including spots for Amtrak and the Discover Card.

In 1997, Drost received two Down Beat magazine awards: “Best Jazz Instrumentalist” and “Best Blues/Pop/Rock Group” (the latter for a band in which he was both musical director and guitarist). His work has also been featured in Guitar Player magazine and Tape Op magazine.
