With the release of his debut solo CD "Songbook; the introduction" in 2005, Luke Sayers has begun a musical journey that was described as "big steps forward for a modern Michigan songwriter" by the presenters at The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI. Luke's songs are steeped in the traditions of American music - blues, jazz, country, and folk - with a modern sound and an emotional edge. Luke's voice has been compared to Martin Sexton and Jason Mraz, and his guitar style has drawn comparisons to Willie Nelson and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Lyrically, Luke combines imaginative storytelling with honest introspection. Luke's words are brought to life by beautiful, original, and heartfelt melodies with a range from hushed crooning to soaring exaltation. In 2005 and 2006, Luke received the Detroit Music Award nominations for 'Outstanding Acoustic/Folk Songwriter' and 'Outstanding Acoustic Artist/Group' respectively. Catch Luke live with his band "The Last to Know", or with his duo partner Mark Iannace.
