Anti-Hero, aka Garth van der Merwe (27), and Ziza Muftik (28) began collaborating five years ago, with Anti-Hero laying down instrumentals and Ziza bringing her unique voice to the project.

Initial local success came when one of their early tracks, Feel, was selected to feature on Ready Rolled Records’ 2002 Cape Town 2am compilation, with one of Anti-Hero’s instrumental tracks, Duststorm, being chosen to feature on the follow-up album, Cape Town 2am Volume 2, a year later. Feel also received much radio play on the Western Cape regional station, Good Hope FM. The track was also licensed for the American television show LAX.

The highlight of their live performances was featuring on the bill alongside UK acts Fingathing and Blak Twang in 2003.
