The Holiday and the Adventure Pop Collective sound, described as “American roots takes a right turn into eclecticism powered by melody and optimism”, stretches the boundaries of popular music with their unique rock noir. With their debut self-produced album, “GOOD (adventures in extreme optimism, vol. 1)”, and three EP’s all released in 2003, their “adventure pop” sound draws from a myriad of influences.
First, incorporate vocal harmonies of Crosby, Stills and Nash with new American roots sound of Gillian Welch and Ryan Adams. Then add Beatles and Keith Jarrett-influenced arrangements (using piano, strings, horns and an occasional accordion). Finally, throw in k.d. lang-meets-Thom Yorke vocals and you arrive at their refreshingly-new, bright, melodic, song-driven “adventure pop” sound.
Based in San Diego, California, The Collective regularly performs in top venues and continues to record and write songs while building an international audience.
