Daniel Van Auken

Daniel Van Auken emerged from Woodway, Texas with a completely infectious and original blend of rock and pop that makes him a sure thing to break out of the pack. Classic but current, wild and wonderful, emotional and evocative, artists like Van Auken are few and far between. Drawing from both the universal, buoyant, hook-filled stylings like that of Bob Dylan or even the Beatles, adding tougher edges of anthemic and forward-sounding set of songs by way of influences that also include artists like Jeff Buckley, The Strokes and Radiohead, it’s quite obvious, his lyrical abilities, musicianship and vocal talents set him apart from the mainstream.

Sure his overall category is probably pop-rock, but there is an air of confidence that makes his music feel more like something off of some bold film score. Van Auken’s voice is an instrument—the guitar, bass, and percussion are his backing symphony.

Growing up in Woodway, Texas has left an indelible musical stamp on Daniel. Many of his songs have a slight twang to them; something akin to Buddy Holly or Merle Haggard. He has opened for such diverse artists as Joan Jet and Ja Rule. Many critics have called his solo performances riveting, soul-searching and unforgettable. At twenty three, here is a singer-songwriter with a history at a young age. Here is an artist with a firm grip on his art. Here is someone whose art may change your life
