Hi Frank thanks so much for reviewing my tune All of the Above (Vocal Version) - glad you liked it - I appreciate your time and feedback. Good Luck to you with your music!
Hey Nigel, I see you reviewed my instrumental Road Rage. This was actually a cool beat to make and really never been heard by real professionals. Everybody got their own option, glad your option don't count. It's like you just wrote them a bunch of words. Be Cool!
Hi Phil, Just stopping by your page to say a big thank you for your kind words about my tune The Winter - I'm very glad that you enjoyed it and I really appreciate the feedback! Good Luck with your musical ventures! Nigel
Thanks for the review of Barcelona Intro - it's actually a cover of the introduction to the Freddie Mercury/Montserrat Caballe tune called Barcelona. Always loved that intro and wanted a crack at reproducing it. Came pretty close I think!
Good luck with your music!
Hello Ki Ki, Thank you for the recent reviews of my songs. Mrs. Kate
Thanks for the review of my tune Stronger. Can I ask which part of the vocal is unclear? I find it strange that you say you can't hear the words. Thanks.
Could be me but I was having a hard time hearing out the lyrics over the instrumentation.
There's a coincidence Nigel , I received the same comment from Collaborations for one of my songs Nigel .
Also , as i recall , I gave 5 stars for Stronger . Every part of the vocal was crystal clear .
As I said it could be me. Sometimes I have a hard time hearing the lyrics when there is a lot of instrumentation. I did really like the song
Hey Bill thanks for the critique of my tune Puerto Messina! It's called that because I was lucky enough to have Miami musician Paul Messina play sax on it! He's awesome! That's the great thing on here for me - being able to hook up with others and Co-write.
Good luck with your music! :-)
Thanks for the reviews of two of my instrumentals - I appreciate the critique both good and bad/constructive. Thanks for listening!
Hey guys, thanks for the review of my RnB instrumental tune! I appreciate the critique! For info, as requested, here is the vocal version:-)
Got it, Thanks
Hey guys thanks for the review of my instrumental Drab Chung - I appreciate the critique. It was inspired by two bands hence the title - Drab Majesty and Wang Chung. As you suggest it was written as an instrumental but I later recorded a vocal version called Rocket To The Sky. Thanks again and good luck to you :-)
Awesome you too! thought so...great track
Hi Frank, thanks for the review of Piano Man - I like your suggestion of a lead instrument to give the track more direction. I'll have to revisit it and see what I come up with!
Hello Steve - thank you for the review of my 'Film Score Idea' track - it's really badly recorded and not mixed well as you rightly identify - I recorded it after realising my old Yamaha SY88 synth was about to die and I'd yet to put it down for posterity so I recorded it as was before the synth died - still a work in progress. Thanks again and good luck with your music!
Thanks so much Steve for the review of The Day That They Came - lyrically it's about what happened to the Jewish population in World War II. I had previously visited Birkenau and Auschwitz and this came as a result. Thanks for the critique.
I'm hoping you found the review useful. I did generally suspect that was the subject of the song (or a modern version of it). I wouldn't necessarily go crazy based on my opinion, but I think that understatement works best when the real world situation is unambiguously communicated to the audience and possibly some of the listeners who would connect most readily are aging out.
Best of luck to you and your work!
Thanks for the review and useful critique of my tune Sorry - it was a lyrical rewrite of a tune I wrote about Zimbabwe. You make very fair points! Thanks again.
Thank you I feel your music and want to give you genuine constructive feedback, thanks!
And two more! Thanks again - glad you liked Goodbye Yesterday and my RnB 80's instrumental (which I agree needs drum reworking!). All the Best with your Music Frank.
Hey Frank! Thanks for the review and critique with suggestions for my instrumental version of my tune Tenderly - I appreciate it!
Hi Nigel, Thanks for your review of Like A Diamond and for your constructive comments. I take your point about the early chorus. In this case, the song was written to be performed to Cliff Richard on his Diamond Showbiz Jubilee, hence the story buildup and lots of choruses at the end for his fans to sing to him. Unfortunately, I was runner-up in the selection process so it never did get performed! I will certainly consider your advice if I get around to rehashing it at some stage.
Hi Nigel , thanks for reviewing TIME IS ON MY SIDE . A few conflicting scores that didn't match up with the comments , but never mind . I can't be blamed (or take credit) for the song itself , but i wish i was the writer . It's actually a cover of a Rolling Stones song from 1963 . If I remember correctly it was their first hit in America , think it made number 6 in the charts .
Mind you , I was always more of a Beatles man myself .
Take Care ,
Thanks for the review of my tune Puerto Messina! It was an instrumental of mine that Miami based saxophonist Paul Messina kindly played on. Always great to work with people overseas! He's an awesome musician. Thanks again.
You're welcome my friend!
Thanks for all you do with the quality body of work!
And another! You're on a roll! Glad you liked my tune Open Your Eyes! I liken it to something Wendy & Lisa might put out at least musically. As is obvious I'm no singer but it's fun trying. Thanks again Phil. Good Luck with your music!
One more for a hat trick !
Hi Phil thanks for the review of my tune All of The Above! Appreciate it!
Hey Steve thanks for the critique and feedback on my tune All of the Above (Electro Version) - I appreciate your comments and suggestions - glad you liked the tune! Best to you.
Hi John thanks for the review of my tune The Winter - thrilled that you like it! It encourages me to continue! Good Luck in your musical quest! Nigel
Hi folks, just stopping by to say thanks for the recent reviews - glad you liked my RnB 80's instrumental! Good luck with your work! Keep it coming!
You're welcome my friend, just let us know anyway we can help!
Thanks for the thorough review of Heart To Heart Nigel. It's fair comment about the song structure, I've changed it several times, mainly because it is too long when put together in the usual fashion. Apart from removing a chorus to reduce the length, the lyrics in the bridge mean that it can't be placed in the usual format, otherwise the story is compromised. However, the song was written more as a story than a commercial venture, it's also way off my usual beaten track, so really much is academic.
Can't win 'em all!
Thanks again, much appreciated.
Hi Nigel - TNX for the review of 'So It's Not Love'. Yes - definitely that vintage feel! We recorded that in 1994, and the fabulous Lillias White, who did the vocals, then went on to win a Tony Award for her performance in Cy Coleman's 'The Life' on Broadway. Lillias is still killing it on theater and cabaret stages. She just did her cabaret act in London a few weeks ago. I'm a bit stuck in the 80s and 90s grooves myself....grin
Hi John - many thanks for your thoughtful review of my tune There But For the Grace of God - I appreciate the words and I'm glad you liked it. Inspires me to keep going! Good Luck with your music! Nigel
You're welcome, Nigel. I liked those 80s songs as well. "One Night in Bangkok," "Life in a Northern Town," "Sanctify Yourself," the punk of Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, stuff I can't write or record...and I loved the fluffy, sugary ballads of the Carpenters and David Gates (my "Stay Here Now" reflects that), and the disco tinged songs of the Bee Gees (my collaboration with Robert Quigley on "You Can Feel It"). Robert and I have realized we've got to update our sound and go more towards EDM, so I've been teaching myself mix/mastering and we'll look more into those styles. I love the mix of New Age synths and the energy that EDM has. I'd say with your songwriting skills, your dream of having a pop artist record your songs is in your favor. Best to you, Nigel. I included you in my latest news (not that I have any kind of following) but maybe a few friends will drop on by to listen to your pieces. John
Thanks for the review of my tune Sorry! I appreciate the detailed feedback and suggestions. For info 'Ms Scheindlin' was a reference to Judge Judy (Scheindlin) and the being judged inference in the story in the song. Thanks again! :-)
Hi Nigel -
Thanks for the follow-up.
It's a nice song.
Ah...OK...the Judge Judy reference might narrow your audience, though. The lyrics have a nice impact when you're staying with YOUR feelings and thoughts.
Good luck with it!
Thanks for listening to "Do You Wanna Dance". Sorry you hated it, but jeez, it's just a cover of a 1958 R&R tune by Bobby Freeman, tried to make it a little retro. Still friends I hope, like your stuff...
Oops! Sorry Bill!
Thanks Fred for the review of Whatcha Gonna Do! I appreciate it and am glad you like it! Good luck and keep your music coming!
Hey Nigel. Thanks for your review of my song Dare to Love. It made me chuckle. Always interesting to see how the music hits people. Sending some good thoughts and positive vibes for the new year. xo kj
