Thanks for the excellent review of my rock instrumental, Dave! You're 100% right, it's the backing to a Yes-like vocal track called "Tonight's The Night" and also right about the drums. Being on a shoestring budget, this was all done in 1-2 takes (including all vocal harmonies) but overall I'm still proud of the result. Recorded at age 66 on a Social Security income -- what can I say?

Thanks for the excellent review of my blues instrumental Funny you should mention the guitars and organ talking to each other, as the title of the song is Blues Conversation (the full-length vocal version has lyrics that match what's going on). So apparently mission accomplished!

Thanks so much for the outstanding review of That's One Thing (You Don't Understand About Me)! That song was originally written in 1971, and I was determined to one day get it recorded. I guess 48 years was a long enough wait.

Thanks for the outstanding review of That's One Thing (intro only), Kevin. The full song actually kicks into high-energy rock with big harmonies in the 2nd half, where you'll get the full picture both lyrically and musically. Glad you enjoyed the intro!

Thanks, as always, Bob for another well-thought out and constructive review of "Song of the People". As you now know, my mixing philosophy is certainly non-standard, as is our skip-the-hook philosophy. Haha :) So I understand your comments with regard to both. That said, this particular mix from last Fall was selected for several sync/placement opps on first glance elsewhere before it landed in an exclusive publishing deal on its only submission here a few weeks ago.

I tend to look at songs as living things that are never really "finished"... and I actually agree with a drier, more up-front vocal approach. But I don't think it would have stood a chance to have been picked up mixed that way. A weird business we are in. :)

Always nice to hear from you!

That's AWESOME, Jason - congrats! Yeah, reviews are all subjective anyway as a matter of personal taste. The big-picture sound is still great whether or not I have any varying opinions on the mix.
