Out of Context is scheduled for May 20th at the Outpost Performance Space in Albuquerque.
Just out: original music and sound design for Chad Brummett's production of Macbeth, which opened at Albuquerque's Vortex Theater on March 30th; and a live performance March 31st featuring poet Lauren Camp, musician Rufus Cohen and yours truly on sampler and live sampling.
General Bio
I've played in the rock scenes of Cincinnati, Raleigh/Durham, Boston, and central New Mexico; composed and performed found-sound electronic scores for modern dance in Uganda and Egypt; scored original theater productions with everything from chant to Wild West-era ballads to Baroque string quartets; and I don't plan to stop anytime soon.
I've played drums in a thrash band, guitar in a ranchera band, piano in a contra-dance band, sampler in a Butch Morris-style conduction improv ensemble (Out of Context, conducted by Butch's right-hand-man JA "Dino" Deane) and a looser variation thereof (mJane, see CDBaby, with the jawdropping vocalist Molly Sturges).
I'm currently working on, among other things, a new project involving animal costumes and nature-sample rhythm tracks. I'm lucky to have amazing creative collaborators.
I love new challenges, and I love learning -- and I always come back to wanting to write a great, great song.
