Caroline Shirley grew up as a teen straightedge listening to Minor Threat in Kenmore Square. After getting a painting degree at RISD she returned to Boston and started the trio Goliath, which sounded like The Pretenders covering Led Zeppelin. An impending tour and some A&R interest provoked the complete disintegration of the band. Caroline moved to New York City.

While earning her keep as a craft minion for the entrepreneur Martha Stewart, she recruited Kristin Parker on drums and Margaret McCartney of Tuscadero on bass to record a CD called City of Dust.

Growing sick of the city, she moved back to Rhode Island, and promptly fell in love and got married. She currently lives in the scrappy neighborhood of Riverside with her husband Jeremy and their dog Dinghy. She is working on her next body of songs, has reunited with Goliath drummer Karen Tercho, and with Jeremy on bass has begun to form a new band. Maybe it's called The 23s, maybe The Wig Hats. Maybe not. Stay tuned.
