Willie Guy Bio

Composer/Guitarist Willie Guy began writing music as a high school freshman in the plains of west Texas. Initial interest came from his father, who also plays guitar. While growing up, Willie Guy received heavy doses of Motown music along with equal shares of the Beatles and the Beach Boys. Outside the house, it was all heavy metal and hard rock. His tastes began to change after he attended Berklee College of Music and the University of Texas. At Berklee, Willie Guy discovered the world of jazz and improvisation, and nothing has been the same since. His friends at the University of Texas helped turn him on to bluegrass, country, jam bands, and many, many other forms of music. In his never ending quest for music knowledge he acquired a degree in audio engineering. He has also delved in producing, promoting, and other freelance work. After playing in a couple of semi successful local bands, Willie Guy decided to set out on his own as a performer and songwriter. Leaving Austin behind in 2005, he set out for Nashville looking for a bigger stage. Currently, Willie Guy splits time between song writing, performing, and both studio and live audio engineering. On rare occasions you can catch him performing with the Gospelettes. Willie Guy has recently written music that will appears movie Effin Sports Camp.
