SWEET DISTORTION UNLEASHES LIFE KILLS

How does Sweet Distortion describe its sound? “The missing link between new- and old-school metal. Unique, creative edge, yet still hook-filled.” The guys cite a list of influences that ranges from Black Sabbath to Metallica, and they have been compared to peers like Slipknot and System of a Down. All it takes is one listen to their latest album, Life Kills, and you’ll understand why.

Hailing from Montreal, Quebec/Canada, the band has been through hot fire, a few lineup changes, and a whole lot more, but it all just seems to make them stronger. This strength and togetherness is something they are proud to show off at their live shows.

“We want to create a total experience for the audience,” says Jerome. “Give them more than they’d expect. We are kind of bored with many of the metal shows now. To us it’s not really about theatrics but about raw feelings, about emotions. We want to go way beyond just setting foot onstage, standing still, and playing loud.”

The band is thrilled with the reaction of fans to these live shows and to the band’s three albums. But they are particularly proud of Life Kills, an album that has already started to receive promising support from radio and the press. This is an album that perfectly shows what the band is capable of, which involves taking infectious heavy metal, adding elements of everything from blues to jazz, and somehow creating a cohesive and enjoyable sound that is hard to resist.

The band is currently hard at work promoting Life Kills, working on everything from videos to potential publishing deals, and they will be hitting the road hard in support of the new album. After all, they have set a rather lofty goal for themselves: “To be at the forefront of a new wave of heavy rock popularity!”
