Hughes de Courson - Composer

Hughes de Courson is a French musician and arranger currently residing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His newest endeavors include musical installations based on Ravel's Bolero with traditional Vietnames and Balinese musicians.

Hughes de Courson is best known for being on all of the albums by Malicorne. He had previously recorded with a group called Grand-Mère and had made an album called Fonds de Tiroir in 1967. He played electric guitar, bass, crumhorn, percussion, recorder, positive organ, piano, elka, synthesiser, glockenspiel and Hammond organ. He was producer on some of the albums. His most original track was probably "Vive La Lune" on Balançoire En Feu (1981), which is largely instrumental. It typifies the colourful, bizarre sounds that he later made as a soloist. He founded the record label Hexagone, which issued some of the Malicorne recordings.

Hughes' albums are all large-scale works. He is an arranger rather than a soloist. On many albums, he combines electronic effects with medieval or baroque instruments. Mozart in Egypt takes works by Mozart and emphasizes the oriental elements in them. The 25th symphony is played with a much-enlarged orchestra. O'Stravaganza - Vivaldi in Ireland combines traditional Irish music with re-arranged Vivaldi works. Unfortunately his recordings are rarely available in the English-speaking world.

Charlemagne (1993)
Lambarena - Bach to Africa (1995)
13 Croquis de Jeunes Filles As (1996)
Mozart in Egypt (1997)
Songs of Innocence (1999)
O'Stravaganza - Vivaldi in Ireland (2001)
Lux Obscura: Un Projet Electro-Medieval (2003)
Mozart in Egypt 2 (2005)

Hughes de Courson has also been credited as conceptualist, instrumentalist, producer and arranger for almost 100 albums for a wide variety of world renowned artists.

Hughes' song El Vuelo, appeared in 2009, in a series of TV ads for the Canadian airline, Air Canada, promoting new features of their new airplanes. He had help recording this piece from Plovdiv's Children's Choir, of Bulgaria.

Discotion Pill - Band

Discotion Pill is an Asian music project - created and masterminded by composer, programmer, guitarist and vocalist Wayan Yudistira "Diz" Sadia, enhanced by the skills of drummer Made "Dex" Hariyana and bassist / back vocalist Putu Purnama "Dha" Yudha, which completes this trio of highly energetic musicians in their mid twenties.

The debut album "Amphetamine" was initially released in late 2007 as a limited "personal edition" for the Indonesian market and has since been cleaned up and re-mastered.

New materials, reflecting the band's musical growth and ever changing creative influences, have been recorded during 2009 and are now available on the second album "Universound", a harder sonic attack, more geared towards the alternative pop-punk or electro-punk scene. This album also only contains two songs in the band's native tongue, Bahasa Indonesia, and focuses more on the international music market with the majority of songs presented in English.

Riwin - Composer/Guitarist

KETUT RIWIYANA, known as Riwin, was born on December 6, 1956, in Denpasar, Bali. As he was growing up, he was introduced to Latin music via cassettes his father brought home from study sojourns in the United States. Riwin learnt to play guitar from a London hippy he met on the beach. This Londoner was on his was to Spain to study Flamenco, and taught Riwin all he knew.

As a teenager, Riwin played in various bands with his two brothers. Then, in 1976, while studying Biology at the university, Riwin joined one of Indonesia's most famous groups at that time, the Bandung-based Pahama.

He never finished the biology studies, instead, from the late 1970s on, Riwin played guitar - performing a diverse range of musical styles, including Jazz and Blue Grass with national and international musicians at one of Bal's early live music venues, Kayu Api.

He formed Tropical Transit on August 5, 1990, and named the group for its tropical environs and the transitory people who made up its audience.

Today, when he is not creating music with the band, Riwin mixes electronic music at his home studio. He is also a spiritual healer and for the past two years with Tropical Transit, he presides as a "Pemangku" ("priest") for the "Tirta" ("Holy Water") sprinkling ceremony which is part of "Kidung Wirama Totaka". Riwin is a truly enigmatic character - on one hand, he provides spiritual support to the group members and on the other, he can bewitch his audience.... especially women.

Riwin's first solo album "My Sexy Life" - a beautiful mix of soothing New Age guitar based tracks and nu-jazz oriented groove tunes - combined with unique ethnical vocal performances by Ayu Laksmi, Ami Rosady and Al Ismono, which perfectly bridge his Balinese musical heritage and traditions with modern western music influences.

Kaos Band

The new band named KAOS, formed by singer/songwriter and dancer Francis Marion Linsangan, hails from Sucat, Paranaque City in the Philippines.

The musical style of Kaos can be described as modern pop music with melodic rock and punk elements.

The band names Filipino music favorites like Francis M. and Bamboo as their main musical influences.

The current releases is aa Special Edition EP, which features five tracks from the upcoming album "Outta Track".

More about Francis Marion "Kiko" Linsangan: He was born October 10th, 1986 in Quezon City, Philippines.

Growing up in a highly talented and creative family environment, where music and dance was always a big part of family life, it was a natural development to begin singing and dancing at an early age, while listening to family members and neighborhood musicians and fast developing his own creative spirit. In his early teens, he then started playing guitar and began to compose his own songs.

His first compositions were musical renditions of the poetic love letters to his "ladies" in school. Nowadays, Kiko's music reflects a more refined, yet still a very sensible style of his unique "poetry in motion"... unafraid to open his heart and (at times brutally honest) giving the listeners a bare-naked glimpse of his innermost feelings.
