Paradyme Shift Bio

Paradyme Shift is a band making waves in the calm seas of Connecticut where music is often overshadowed by the sound coming from New York City and Boston. Together now for almost 2 years the duo is known for its addictive vocals, brilliant harmonies, solid musicianship and for further developing the genre of acoustic and rock music.

Matthew Thibeault, 22 is masterful on the acoustic and bass guitars. Years of experience gigging and songwriting have allowed him to achieve a notable ability to write memorable music. Together with Jim Rose, 21 and his developed abilities on the keyboard, the duo combines to form a formidable force in music. Both have powerful voices strong enough to stand on their own and complement each other beautifully in well placed harmonies.

One of Matthew’s first musical inspirations occurred when he began listening to Peter Gabriel. He has a fond love for bands that mix great musicianship with harmonies that match. Some other bands that have influenced Matthew are The Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul, John Mayer, and Guster. Some of the influences that have shaped Jim’s musical identity include Billy Joel, Elton John, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and Yes.

Most songs on the debut CD are built around the acoustic guitar with accents provided by keyboard and bass. The band works to orchestrate songs in a way that builds and changes from start to finish. Many of their songs were written from personal experiences which most listeners can relate to. Their memorable choruses have the tendency to stick in your mind, and more than likely you’ll find yourself singing them throughout the day. Some songs are calming and have the ability to melt away the day’s worries, while other songs are more driving and create an upbeat atmosphere.

These two musicians from Connecticut have worked hard for two years recording their music on an 8 track recorder in Jim’s basement. Their love for playing drives the duo to write and record every chance they get despite the responsibilities of college and full time work. It’s no wonder their first album is entitled “Through it All.” Paradyme Shift hopes to continue doing what they love and spread their music, perhaps turning a few heads along the way.
