Okemah are the bastard sons of American roots music. for
fifteen years they have toured the landscape of their favorite
styles of music (folk, blues, jazz, and country) and have been
simmering these ingredients into a style they can call all their own.
Okemah’s sound is based upon a foundation of tightly written
songs filled with vocal harmonies and soulful communication
between the players. Ultimately, Okemah is a Rock n’ roll band in
the great tradition of American music. following the line of their
musical anscestors, they have one foot firmly planted in american
roots music and the other in unchartered territory . The time
is now and Okemah looks forward to bringing their music to you.

Bio's

Damian Ubriaco / Vocals, Guitar - Damian’s songwriting is a mixture of folk, blues,
country, and old school rock n' roll. He has written songs for Johnny Cash, Odetta,
and Richie Havens. In both his songwriting and singing, he continues to seek more subtle
ways to blend music of all genres into a style all his own.

Kirk Juhas / Keyboards - Performed on Jewel’s rendition on “You Make Loving Fun”
featured on the album “Rumors, A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac”, as well as appearing on
the band Moe.’s 3rd studio release “Dither”. He has also shared the stage with such
artists as David Grisman, John Medeski, Bob Weir, and The Flaming Lips.

Sean Scanlon / Drums - Sean has performed with several projects and continues to
lend his talents to recording artists in need of a solid rhythm track. He has shared
the stage with such notables as 10,000 Maniacs, Charlie Hunter, and The Samples, among
others. His eclectic musical background and influences have helped him to develop his
unique approach and style, while his family continues to fuel his passion to create and
enhance the music he performs.

Ken Juhas / Bass - Over the last 12 years, he has steadily performed throughout the
U.S. sharing the stage with such acts as Blues Traveler, Karl Denson, and Parliament.
Ken currently performs in a side project named “Before Cowboys”, featuring Diane
Schnier, Al Schnier (Moe.) and Vinnie Amico(Moe.).
