Officer Roseland

Hailing from the outskirts of Philadelphia, Officer Roseland has been protecting and serving rock music since 2000. Comprised of Dan Daidone (bass/vocals), Brian Jones (keyboards/guitar), Harry Grannis (bass/guitar) and John Ilisco Jr (drums/percussion), this fearlessly experimental band is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of rock into bold new directions, drawing their influence from such eclectic sources of inspiration as Mr. Bungle, Talking Heads, Rush, Frank Zappa, Ween, NoMeansNo, and the Beatles. Fusing everything from funk, punk, new-wave, hardcore, jazz, soul and country with their own uniquely twisted sense of humor, OR has developed an aggressive and original sound desperately needed in an increasingly generic musical landscape.
Philadelphia’s top rock station, 94.1 WYSP, named Officer Roseland the "Local Rockstars of the Month" for April 2003, and the band was invited into the studio to perform live on Tommy Conwell’s acclaimed "Loud & Local" program. A pair of songs from OR’s self-titled debut, "Fiero" and "Apple Zip Zaps", were featured prominently in award-winning animator Billy Blob’s short film Bumble Being at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. This film was showcased on the debut episode of Comedy Central’s new series Jump Cuts in November 2004. Currently OR can be heard in frequent rotation on the UK's Pulse Rated satellite and internet radio station, and on XM satellite radio’s Unsigned Bands station. O.R. recently completed their first UK tour, including an in-studio live recording/interview with Pulse Rated. Pulse Rated also selected Officer Roseland as one of the artists to have their songs pre-loaded on an MP3 Player that was distributed nation wide in the UK's leading electronics chain, Dixons, starting February 2006. As of June 1st 2006 Officer Roseland released their first Podcast. The Podcast "Roll Call" features Officer Roseland Updates, unreleased material, demos, interviews, live tracks, and much more! Officer Roseland's live experience consists of shows played in Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Officer Roseland plays at least 30 live shows a year.Their latest album, Sunglasses, contains 8 tracks of adventurous new material that explores the possibilities of rock’s future while paying tribute to the energy and vitality of its past.

Officer Roseland Press Reviews

Officer Roseland - Self Titled
Concussion Magazine
There are many acts that dabble in the genre-splicing category of music and only a scant few stand out from the pack. Too many times the changes sound forced or the overall effort is reduced to a cheap imitation. Such is not the case with the Pennsylvania-based outfit Officer Roseland. You can hear the influences of bands like Primus, Ween and Mr. Bungle throughout, but their sound definitely has it's own thing going on... The playing is skilled and it is apparent they are having a great time with the material. The music is humorous, but not in a Weird Al sort of way. Simply put, this album is great. I recommend this to anyone with a short attention span who likes music that is off the beaten path and a bit tongue in cheek. Especially bass players. Officer Roseland - The Hobbit UK
The Fly Wessex by Louise Glyde
The Hobbit in Southampton was host to four American rockers on Saturday night. Officer Roseland, from Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, performed five dates in the UK and used a mobile home in Andover as a touring base. The band consists of Dan Daidone ( vocals/bass ) Brian Jones ( keyboards/guitar ) John Ilisco ( drums/percussion ) and Harry Grannis on Bass. They oozed typical American skater cool with their shin-length shorts, baggy t-shirts, tattoos, earrings and baseball caps. Their music was extremely fast paced and a cross between heavy rock and punk with an occasional hint of ska - although it seems so many current bands shy away from being pigeon holed into a genre. Officer Roseland have a relatively good variety of songs. Heavy guitar playing coupled with steady and skilled drumming got the feet moving to the ska-sounding tunes and the heads banging for the heavier stuff. It was good gym or driving music, racy enough to get the pulse up and constructed eloquently enough to sing along to. Lead singer Dan literally flailed a tambourine about like it was trying to bite his arm off and sang himself blue in the face. He really got into the music and, like the rest of the band, encouraged the handful of onlookers still around at 1am to get sweaty with him. Officer Roseland had a good sense of humor and they bantered with the crowd like they were Hobbit regulars. An evening of good fun and great music, lets hope we'll see Officer Roseland around our way again.
