Myopic Son is a heavy, riff based quartet that shows diversity and simplicity in their assault on your senses. Powerful drums, thick, crunchy guitars and blues-y vocals drive their metallic engine. -February 2001 Maximum Ink Magazine

Bio

Myopic Son is composed of singer Nik Alexander, guitarist Kevin Kosterman, bassist Jeff Ritter, and drummer Spencer Smith. The band was formed in February of 2000, and the journey to this point has been manifested by chance, as well as a little luck. Kevin and Jeff met their junior year in high school and formed the band Crap Faucet with a couple of their buddies. Crap Faucet disbanded in 1997 upon graduation of some of its members. Kevin and Jeff went off to separate colleges, yet they remained close friends. In his first year at college, early in 1998, Kevin met up with Spence and formed the band Fluid. The following year Jeff transferred to Oshkosh, WI and joined Kevin and Spence as Fluid’s bass player. Fluid tore up the Oshkosh area for over a year until the ties were severed with their vocalist in the summer of 1999.

The band began their search for a new voice, and after six long months of ads, phone calls, tapes, and auditions, Nik entered the picture. Nik helped form the band Bleu Treason in Winona, MN in the fall of 1997. Bleu Treason played together almost 2 years, bouncing from Winona, MN, to the Wisconsin Dells, then back to Winona, and finally to Madison, WI. But in the end, the band dissolved in January of 2000. Undaunted, Nik found a 'vox wanted' ad that very same week in the local music rag, Maximum Ink and made the call. He made one trip up to Oshkosh to audition and the band was sold.
